| This
site is dedicated to
imagined worlds or paracosms |
| Children
make up stories all the time. They are forever
inventing settings and scenarios for their games, and
many of us had imaginary friends. However, this
site is about something rather different and
(perhaps) relatively uncommon - a work of imagination
which is sustained over months or often years rather
than days. |
| If
you had one of these worlds you will have returned again
and again over a very long period, developing and enriching
it at each visit. A whole society may
have emerged. More
about imagined worlds in general. |
| You may still have your world,
which you may be reluctant to tell people about. |
| I
should very much like to hear from anyone who had or
has a paracosm or who has studied them. I am especially
interested in how people might use or might have used
paracosms as a resource in their lives. I am also
very committed to countering any tendency to pathologise
this type of creative activity. |
